Old Market Inn Real Ale Awards
When the Old Market Inn was taken over in September 2006, there was
not a real ale in sight. Being told by the old Landlord that 'you
can't sell real here, you'll never sell it.'
Real ale is a specialty, and this did not deter us from having two hand
pulls installed before we re-opened. As you know a well kept pint of
real ale sells its self, and within a month a third hand pull was
installed, with the forth coming two months after that.
On the 31st August 2007 The Old Market Inn was awarded the 'Cask
Marque' for outstanding real ales. As the advertising says 'For
pubs which serve the perfect pint'. Five months after being
awarded the 'Cask Marque' we were recommended by 'North Devon Camra'
to be entered into the next 'Good Beer Guide'. This was excepted and
our entry is in the new issue.
So a pub that did not serve any real ales, has been accredited with
two prestigious awards within 18 months. This speaks for its self,
so if you want the best pint of real ale in town, we'll see you in
the 'Old Market' |
